Create your mascot with flash

Sale MiochY, the cute little intergalactic extra-terrestrial.

So in this tutorial we are going to see how we can draw with Flash Mx.

For this example we are going to draw Miochy, the cute little intergalactic extra-terrestrial :o)

Flash Mx has very interesting shading, and particularly drawing functions. With a bit of practice

you will soon be able to create some great characters.

1/ the head

On the 1st layer, select the tool for drawing circles from the tool bar.

Next choose for example, a black outline with a linear internal shading and then trace a circle.

2/ the eyes

I would definitely advise you to work on a new layer for each element added.

It enables you to make modifications much more easily and to have totally independent elements.

So, create a new layer.

Highlight the circle with a black outside and white inside.

Trace a circle in the new layer.

Double click above it to select both the interior and exterior of the circle and then do cut and paste - unless you only want him to have one eye :o) )

Create a new layer.

Still using the tool for circles, choose a black contour and radial shading for the inside, then trace. notre outil du rond selectionnez un contour noir et un int

Create a new layer.

Choose a paint brush with the color black to give him pupils, then white to make some nice touches. ;o).

3/ the mouth

Up to here, it's been easy

Choose the tool that makes lines and draw a horizontal one.

Notice that if you place the mouse's cursor in the middle of the line, you can change its shape, or stretch it however you like.

So create another new layer and draw him a little mouth.

NB: You may possibly experience some difficulties with positioning when you move the different elements. Click on View and de-select "attached to objects" and "attached to pixels".

4/ the antennae

Create a new layer

In the same way as for the mouth, draw him some antennae.

5/ the details

For example go back to the layer with the eyes on a white background, click on the background and add some linear shading from white to grey.

Don't forget to give him a tongue :o)

You can keep on adding as many effects and details as you like (shadows, colors, shading...).
