Referencing: why?

When you want to search for information on the internet you go to two different types of website: directories ( yahoo, nomade ...) or search engines ( google, altavista, voila ...) , but these two activities tend to blend into one (websites often offer both possibilities).

Just like you, most internet users make use of these tools to find websites which correspond to subjects that interest them on the internet. It is therefore vital to make your website known, whether it's in search engines of directories.

To start with it's not worth registering with lots of search engines and directories. 3 or 4 is plenty - they represent 90% of searches. If you need convincing, ask yourself which ones you use regularly and that's probably enough!
